Where We're Waking . Kin Cafe
“Tasty food. Great coffee. Lovely people.” Built on a simple idea of offering honest and healthy food, Kin Cafe in Fitzrovia serves a daily-changing menu of fresh vegetarian dishes - often with a decent vegan and gluten-free selection.
Kin Cafe’s morning menu (served until 11.30am) boasts made-to-order acai bowls, chia seed puddings, Mexican eggs, protein bowls, pastries and a variety of homemade baked goods. Their drinks menu offers an extensive list of hot brews, juices, smoothies and in-house kombucha - our kind of drinks selection! Their lunchtime menu of salads, sandwiches and daily specials is dictated by the seasons for optimum flavour, freshness and sustainability, and is 100% vegetarian (and mostly vegan).
On a recent visit we indulged in the signature acai bowl, vegan protein bowl and Mexican eggs - too much food for two people? Probably. Worth trying all three options? Absolutely. The protein bowl - with sliced tempeh, avocado with edamame beans atop a bed of quinoa - was delicately dressed with a tahini sauce and is one of the tastiest breakfast options we’ve eaten for a while. If it’s something sweet you’re after, the acai bowl is filling and generously topped with granola, banana, chia seeds and flaked almonds.
If you work in town, Kin Cafe is a lovely spot for healthy, hearty breakfasts and meetings - especially if you fancy a slice of cake with your coffee. At weekends, it’s in a great location to fuel up before a day of sightseeing or shopping; just make sure you get there early to secure a table outside if the weather is nice.
