Go Au Naturel With A Plant Based Skincare Routine

Sarah Murrell, Founder of natural and organic skincare brand, BY SARAH LONDON, tells us why plants aren't just for eating, but should be in our skincare too...

BY SARAH LONDON group

"At BY SARAH LONDON, we like plants - a lot. So much so that they're at the heart of our skincare; we use certified-organic, plant-based oils across our collection.

I created natural, organic, plant-based skincare to help my sister, Lauren, when she was recovering from leukaemia (she's now made a full recovery and is my business partner!) so that I knew exactly what was inside the products to help soothe Lauren's sensitive skin. We believe in the power of organic, plant-based ingredients as part of our daily meals and skin care - what we put on our skin is just as important as what we eat...

You might have totally nailed your breakfast routine with your Qnola and 7am yoga, but what's your morning skincare regime like? Are you feeding your skin with all the rich nutrients that it needs to stay healthy and nourished? It's really easy to switch to plant-based skincare and I've set out our top 3 BY SARAH LONDON products to start your day!.They contain recognisable ingredients (some of which you may recognise from your Qnola favourites, such as Himalayan Pink Salt - in our Bath Salts - and coconut) which are listed in full on the front label - so you know exactly what you're putting on your skin. The ingredients we have chosen all perform a specific function for your skin and work together to boost your skin with omegas, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants - just like the food you eat!

1. Green Clay Cleansing Balm. This 84% organic balm contains only organic apricot oil, organic virgin coconut oil, french green clay and organic beeswax. The green balm dissolves beautifully once applied and the essential fatty acids, Vitamin A and antioxidants get to work nourishing your skin while the clay gently removes dead skin cells and leaves skin positively brighter and healthier (it gets its green colour from kelp and algae!). Remove with our Organic Muslin Facial Cloth and pat with cold water to close your pores, then move on to step 2.
2. Organic Facial Oil. This 99% organic facial oil is packed full of essential fatty acids, proteins, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals - it’s a superfood salad for your skin! It contains only organic almond oil, organic apricot oil, organic pumpkin seed oil, organic argan oil, organic evening primrose oil and Vitamin E. Did you know that pumpkin seed oil is rich in fatty acids and acts as an outstanding anti-inflammatory; it helps to calm and soothe redness, keeping skin hydrated and firm. This is because the oil encourages cell turnover and aids in maintaining collagen levels, resulting in more youthful-looking skin. And this facial oil is suitable for vegans, as it's registered with The Vegan Society.
3. Organic Lip Balm. This 100% organic balm is a real skin saviour, made with only organic virgin coconut oil, organic apricot oil and organic beeswax. We use the finest quality, organic virgin coconut oil in this balm due to its fatty acids that help to lock in moisture, as well as its antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal properties that keep chapped lips at bay. It's great to keep in your bag and use on the go to help keep lips soft and smooth (that's the apricot oil doing its job!)

The three steps above take no more than 5 minutes. Think of it as a nutrient- packed, deliciously nourishing breakfast for your skin! Packed full of plant-based goodness to keep your skin nourished throughout the day. And in the evening, you can repeat the steps and your skin will drink in those nutrients while you sleep and thank you in the morning! If you believe in the power of plants and the benefits of organic ingredients, check out our full collection and start feeding your skin today.
