Rye Lane in Peckham is a brilliant microcosm of South London; awash with hardware stores, phone shops and hairdressers alongside trendy bars and restaurants, it's one of the most diverse places South of the river and thanks to a few independent cafe's, one of the most delicious too.

Located towards the Peckham Park end of Rye Lane, Pedler is a small but buzzy restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to hungry locals. The decor is cleverly chintzy with marble tables and the essential 'exposed brick' wall contrasting nicely with House of Hackney wallpaper and mismatched vintage crockery. Pedlar is small and often very busy (especially at weekends and evenings) which provides a great, relaxed dining atmosphere - it helps that the food is top quality too.

If you're looking for a super healthy brunch spot, look away now - Pedlar's menu is indulgent and satisfying: ricotta pancakes with maple syrup butter and smashed avo with goats cheese on toast are just a couple of examples. Let's not even mention the Pedlar Breakfast, a huge plate of hearty, hunger busting food that will keep you full quite literally all day. Using produce from local suppliers, many of the ingredients on the menu are sourced close to home - amazing given the reasonable pricing.

Pedlar is cool but not intimidating and is the perfect place to bring your parents, go for brunch with the gang and impress a second date; it's well worth a visit next time you're in Peckham.
