If you've been in London (or Paris, New York & Milan) for Fashion Week, you'll know it's a whirlwind six days with shows all day, parties every night and very little (if any) time between for rest and relaxation. With hectic schedules that don't allow for toilet breaks let alone breakfast, lunch or dinner, editors and stylists often rely on easy freebies (think Propercorn washed down with a glug of Vita Coco) to keep them going during the day. Needless to say, these options are neither satisfying nor sustaining and won't keep energy levels up for long.
To save you the effort, we've put together a list of our favourite snack-stops in central London - places you can pick up a healthy, nourishing snack to keep you going during the day with a side of the best products too. And there's not a Pret or EAT in sight...
Raw Press - Dover Street & Ellis Street
At both cafés, Raw Press serve a revolving lunch menu of plant-based, gluten-free salads alongside hot options including Miso Aubergine and Sweet Potatoes. Not forgetting the HUGE selection of nourishing juices and snacks that include homemade biscuits and almond pulp cake - the perfect guilt-free afternoon treat.
The Detox Kitchen - Kingly Street & Mortimer Street
With two central venues, The Detox Kitchen is perfectly situated for healthy takeaway snack options. Our first official stockist (our handy snack-pots are available from both café's) serves honest and delicious food, free from gluten and refined sugar. Tempt your sweet AND savoury tastebuds with the Protein Pots (hard-boiled egg, smoked salmon, broccoli & kale) and Pistachio and Coconut & Orange Truffles; both available to takeaway, both full of nourishing goodness and both totally delicious. Winner winner.
Selfridges Food Hall - Oxford Street
From the brand new Kamon DIY sushi counter, to the Hemsley + Hemsley 'Good To Go' pop-up and fresh juices from Press London - there's something for everyone at Selfridges Food Hall. You can also find pouches of our divine Savoury blend there too, win win!
Rawligion - Tottenham Street
Rawligion is a 100% plant-based café in Fitzrovia that serves delicious organic food, made fresh on site every day. Our favourite takeaway option is the chia pots: parfait style with homemade walnut milk for added creaminess. The Mulberry & Baobab bar is also a total winner for a quick pick-me-up.
Ahi Poke - Percy Street
Ahi Poké embraces values on nutrition and sustainability - all of the ingredients in each colourful bowl are kept raw to retain their full nutritional value. Our favourite is the Heat Wave, a spicy kick to help you through the afternoon slump with: quinoa, salmon, avocado, kimchee, cucumber and spicy mayo.
Ethos - Eastcastle Street
Conveniently located round the corner from Oxford Circus tube station, Ethos is a pay-by-weight vegetarian restaurant with an extensive, daily changing menu. Say goodbye to the usual boring veggie fare with the likes of Japanese Miso Aubergine, Squash & Stilton Walnut Rolls and Artichoke Stuffed Potato Bites.
Pride Kitchen - Neal's Yard
Natural, simple and good looking food is the ethos behind Pride Kitchen in Neal's Yard; founder David Bez is a salad connoisseur and a master at creating tasty, beautiful vegan food. For a savoury snack, the Farinata gets our vote. Wash it down with a superfood (matcha, turmeric, rose, spirulina or beetroot) smoothie for a nutritious caffeine alternative.
Farmstand - Covent Garden
With meat that is humanely treated, fish that is sustainably sourced, vegetables that are GM free and a menu that is refined-sugar, dairy and gluten free, Farmstand know the importance of good food provenance. Build your own box of colourful dishes including Slow Cooked Beef Brisket, Fava Beans & Pumpkin and Roasted Aubergine for a fresh, easy and satisfying takeaway lunch.
Raw Health - Ruby Roots Dippers
We love beetroot ALOT (we even dedicated a flavour to it) so it's no surprise that Raw Health's dipper's are high on our list of snacking essentials. Made using six wholesome ingredients, these pink bad boys are ideal for those on-the-go hunger pangs.
Kookie Cat - Vanilla Choc Chip
If you're craving something sweet that's healthy AND substantial, look no further than Kookie Cat; hand-crafted vegan and gluten-free cookies with a satisfying chewy texture.
Superfoodio - Savoury Clusters
These little clusters of joy are a great crunchy treat; they come in various different tempting flavours and are vegan, gluten-free and refined-sugar free too.
Saf - Activated Crackers
A great source of protein for veggie's and vegans, Saf's range of raw crackers are vegan and gluten-free - totally moreish and available in a handy resealable tube.
Clearspring - Seaveg Crispies
Seaweed is an excellent source of minerals and vitamins and is one of the richest plant sources of calcium. We love Clearspring's authentic Chilli Crispies for a spicy, nutritional kick.
Cru8 - Almond Macaroons
If chocolate isn't your thing, these raw nutty coconut macaroons are like little pieces of heaven. Keep in your bag as a sweet treat throughout the day or enjoy at home with a cup of herbal tea - bliss!
