. WAKE UP WELL RITUALS . WINTER EDITION .

This time of year it's more important than ever to practice and adopt self and health care rituals. As you know by now, we are more than just a breakfast product. We believe living well is about more than just what you eat, and we work hard to inspire and encourage you to Wake Up Well in order to stay well throughout the day. Below, we've shared our most valuable pieces of advice as well as our favourite food and skincare products to support immunity and nourish the skin from the inside out. To keep spirits and energies high even if you're feeling the threat of illness or the consequences of the night before, waking up well will set the tone for the rest of the day and ensure you make it through the holiday season looking, and feeling, well.

1. BEDITATION
Start the day by spending time awake in bed. During the winter it's hard to get out of a warm bed if there's a chill in the air, so set your alarm a little before you need to get up, to lie in bed and give yourself time to adjust. Moving around in bed can help warm you up too. Try stretching and twisting under the duvet to kick start your circulation and heart rate gently. Then, dedicated this extra time in bed to mediating, thinking or just observing. Whether you use a meditation app, practice vedic / mantra meditation, chant, set intentions, manifest goals, think about what you're grateful for or just observe how you feel in this exact moment, taking this time to check in with the inner you has been proven to make you more productive, more positive, more motivated, more inspired and more grounded.

2. HOT DRINK
Boil the kettle and make a hot drink that will not only warm you up but also pump you full of vital functional vitamins and minerals. We like lemon and ginger juice in hot water to cleanse and clear the system, cacao powder in hot water for an energy boost, or a combination of adaptogens (such as maca, he shou wu, reishi, ashwaganda) to take care of things until your first meal of the day.

3. MOVE
Get moving in the morning to wake up properly and evenly. We're not urging you to jump straight out of bed into a burpee or off to a HIIT class, something as simple and stretching can help support circulation, improve flexibility, regulate metabolism and get your blood pumping. Think about warm up's you've done before a class; they don't call it a warm up for nothing. If you cant get to a full class, spend just a few minutes limbering up - you'll feel lighter and more energised!

4. MUSIC
Music is a great motivator which is why we love adding it to our morning routine. In the winter - a gloomy season and a depressing time for many - it's not always natural to feel positive all the time. A mood or memory boosting playlist will definitely help lift your mood though.

5. FRESHEN UP
As the temperatures drop, your skin isn't only battling the cold weather but also the artificial temperature controlling methods such as heating and fan systems. Transitioning between cold and hot can agitate the skin, and just like the cold, dry weather can dry out the skin, so can central heating. With darker days, the skin is exposed to less natural light, so this season is a crucial time to up your skincare regime. Allocate ample time in the mornings to steam, exfoliate, cleanse, tone and moisturise - finding a regime which works best for your skin. Below are a few of our favourite products for men and women.

Although their are many interesting and somewhat useful articles online sharing morning tips and routines adopted by certain celebrity's,  nothing you read has been designed or written with your own life in mind. With tips, it's easy to mix and match, taking advice and applying it to your own unique schedule, but taking inspiration from a celebrity having been promised by an enticing headline that it will improve your life or even turn you into said celebrity, it might not. What works for one person might not work for someone else, which is why our advice is merely a guideline of things that work for us that we want to share, not a regimented rulebook for how you should live your life (of which we know nothing about). Only you know what works for you and only you have the control to make the most suitable changes and decisions in your life. Take inspiration but don't take it too seriously!
